Meet Jennifer
My name is Jennifer Sadugor. I am a proud native of Sacramento. When I was very young, my grandparents passed away and I remember being told I was too young to go to their funerals. I often asked myself, “why was I too young?” Much later, a friend died in high school and then a boyfriend passed away. Through these experiences I developed a natural curiosity about the end of life.
I am a graduate of University of Vermont End Of Life Doula program. This program inspired me to continue to help those through their dying process by providing compassionate care and comfort so they may find meaning, closure and peace.
For over 28 years I have been a yoga teacher and a yoga therapist for 13 years, offering yoga as a means of therapy, relaxation and healing. I teach classes and work with students individually.
In 2006, I was trained at the Sacramento Hospice Consortium, and became a UCDavis hospice volunteer. These experiences taught me that patients wanted to be heard and included in any decision-making process. Conversations about death and dying can make the dying person, their family and friends uncomfortable. With respect, dignity and empathy as a major part of hospice care, these conversations can become comfortable. As a volunteer and now as a Doula, I feel this is a critical part of showing up for the patient and their family.
Through this work I also became part of the bereavement team, helping families and friends to navigate their grief and loss after the passing of their loved ones. Those left behind need understanding and support for their grief.
What motivates me to do this work? I have a heartfelt desire to support a client to live as fully as possible, wrap up loose ends, leave a legacy and hopefully find peace for this portion of their lives. It is no wonder that this work is referred to as the “doula heart”.
